Scottish Widows was founded in 1815 in Edinburgh. The Scottish Widows Bank was launched in 1995 and offers credit cards, mortgages and deposit accounts.

The Scottish Widdows web site says that the Scottish Widows Investment Partnership manages over £70 billion (as at 30 June 2003) of their client funds.
